About the Author

William Beltre is a first-generation Dominican-American and the son of immigrants. Growing up in a household without the traditional academic roadmap, he initially viewed reading as a chore-until the day he discovered Tolkien. That encounter sparked a lifelong fascination with the transformative power of storytelling.

While studying Computer Animation at UMass Amherst, a Comparative Literature course titled "Brave New World" introduced him to the visionary works of Orwell, Stephenson, Atwood, and Butler. This exposure to iconic speculative fiction didn’t just expand his library; it blew his world open, fueling an insatiable appetite for narratives that challenge the status quo.

What began as a hobby, trading late-night "doom-scrolling" for creative output, has evolved into a vital passion. For William, writing has become as necessary as breathing-a way to kindle for others the same spark that redefined his own life years ago.

Above all, William considers his family his greatest success. This journey is shared with his wife, Jo, and their children, Marley and Javi, who reflect the blended values he holds dear. He lives in New Hampshire with his family and a chaotic menagerie of two dogs, three cats, and one remarkably misbehaving bunny.

The Story

AN0MAL0US is a story driven by my need to write something familiar, yet different. Don’t get me wrong, it starts off as a traditional story about an oppressive world. There’s nothing new about that concept. But there’s something hidden underneath it all that isn’t obvious at first. There are hints of it, but you don’t quite understand what the meaning of it all is.

When you read the first chapter, you know there’s something off or mysterious about Fento, but as the story goes deeper into Book 2 and then Book 3, we start to unravel the larger secrets and see the chaos that the deeper mysteries will reveal. Be patient.

I am asking you to stick with it. And yes, there are easter eggs in the writing itself. Two major ones, to be precise, in the first book, but you have to sleuth it out on your own; I’m not going to reveal anything here.

I hope you enjoy seeing the world evolve and the characters as well. They all grow in special ways that will change the narrative in ways you just don’t expect.

Have fun exploring,

Bill
